Discover Potsdam : Historic City Centre

Hello everyone!!! Sorry for the late update. It's been a hectic month and for the past two weeks I've been busy travelling across Europe. Lepas stress kita enjoy la travelling kan. To start off, I would like to share with you guys about my trip to Potsdam with Samer and Naqi.

Potsdam, a capital city of the German federal state of Brandenburg is very famous for its palaces. There are a number of palaces in Potsdam namely Sanssouci Palace, Orangery Palace, New Palace and Charlottenhof Palace. Samer, Naqi and I did a half-day walking tour across Potsdam and we managed to cover most of the sightseeing places within the short time we were there.

So, let's start!

The tour starts off at Potsdam main station. We made our way across Lange Brücke (Long Bridge) to reach the Alter Markt (old market). Old Market, the central place of Potsdam city acts as a historical asset of the city. Here you can find a number of tourist attractions such as the church of St. Nikolai, (Stadtschloss) City Palace, Old Town Hall and Fortunaportal.

We continue walking along the Filmmuseum to the reconstructed City Canal.

Glockenspiel der Garnisonkirche (Carillon)

From the city canal, we then made our way along the Christmas Market to Brandenburg Gate at Luisenplatz.

From Luisenplatz we headed to the Park and Palace of Sanssouci. Such a magnificent view!

You can go in the Palace to get a better view of its interior design. The ticket would cost about 8 euros to 12 euros depending on the time of visit.

The Park at Sanssouci is huge and has a lot of things to offer. You better wear a pair comfortable shoes if you're planning to cover the whole park.

From the Park of Sanssouci we took a bus to University of Potsdam to see the Neues Palais (New Palace)

I had a wonderful time exploring Potsdam with Samer and Naqi. It would have been a better experience if we visited Potsdam during Spring or Autumn. This is because of the beautiful parks and palaces that would look nicer with flowers and greenery around them. :)
