Vatican City, Italy...Ciao!

The next destination on our European tour was Vatican City! It is the world's smallest fully independent nation-state. It's amazing that this state is located within the city of Rome. Just take a tram or a bus from Rome's main station and you'll arrive at the Vatican City within less than 15 minutes.

We arrived in Rome quite late in the evening and because it was Easter Saturday we thought of checking out the Vatican City first. There was an Easter Vigil at St. Peter’s Basilica at 9pm. When we arrived at Piazza San Pietro a.k.a St. Peter’s Square, we could still see a number of people queueing up to get into the St. Peter’s Basilica. A clear view of crowd control barriers lining up makes me wonder the number of people that were inside the St. Peter's building celebrating Easter Vigil with their new pope.

We managed to stroll the St. Peter’s Square and the streets nearby. Sadly, we didn't get the chance to visit Vatican Museum or the St Peter's tomb as it was already late and on the next day, the museum was closed. Howoe..it's ok..Maybe next time..Enjoy the pictures!

We managed to grab a cup of creamy delicious italian gelato while strolling along the streets of Vatican City
Oh it's the best ice-cream I've ever tasted...rindduuuuu!

Stay tuned for more interesting posts on our European tour...
Take care and tschüss!!!!
