First day of Ramadhan abroad...

Before anything, I would like to wish
Salam Ramadhan Al-Mubarak to all fellow Muslims especially to my beloved family members and friends..

Alhamdullillah, Ramadhan is back again. My first year of Ramadhan in Germany, I didn't go back to Malaysia. So I had to experience fasting for the first time abroad, without my family and friends. :( It was hard at first but alhamdullillah everything went on well. Last year, I got the chance to go back to Malaysia and fasted there. It was a wonderful moment celebrating Ramadhan with my family and friends. This year, I'm gonna celebrate Ramadhan at both places, Germany and Malaysia. I still have a few days to go before going back to my home sweet home, Malaysia.I'm kinda excited experiencing fasting at two different places. :)

So yesterday was the first day of Ramadhan in Europe.A day earlier than in Malaysia. The first challenge was that I didn't wake up for Sahur. I ate dinner quite late at about 11pm. While watching drama and waiting for the time to Sahur, I dozed off. My housemates tried to wake me up but I was soundly asleep. Howoe.
I woke up early that morning with regrets. First day of puasa and I didn't have my Sahur..sabo jerla..

Subuh in Krefeld, Germany is at 4.06am and Maghrib is at 9.46pm.So that's a total of approximately 18 hours. Even though 18 hours might sound like a very long fasting time, I didn't really feel any difference compared to when fasting in Malaysia. Maybe because I'm already used to the long fasting period from the first year I was here. :p

We don't have Bazaar Ramadhan here.So no Roti John...Murtabak...Nasi Kerabu...Laksa what so ever..and no masakan mak too... T.T...Whatever you're craving for, you'd have to make yourself.

My housemates and I decided to cook something special on our first day of puasa. All of us gave a helping hand a.k.a "bergotong-royong" in preparing the food. Oh terasa cam dah nak raya plak.. :p

I made pisang lapis and gave some to my neighbours and I got these in return...

A turkish specialty called Dolma... It's like fried rice wrapped in a cabbage.

and Peach cheesecake.. Om nom nom nom

Buah Melaka made by Ainul

Nasi Ayam made by Anisah with her mum's secret recipe...serious sedappp...

What we had for Buka Puasa last night... Alhamdullillah seronok gak berbuka puasa kat sini...

Just like one big happy family... :)

Till the next post..
Tschüss und mach's gut!

Salam Ramadhan...

Toni
