What's not to love about Rotterdam...

Whenever I go to Holland, I'll never miss to visit the city of Rotterdam. The main factor would be because I have relatives who are staying there..But to tell you the truth, I like the city of Rotterdam. I love the view of the port of Rotterdam. It gives you a breathtaking view that will be etched in your mind.

Did you know?
  • The name Rotterdam derives from a dam in the Rotte river.
  • The port of Rotterdam is the largest in Europe
  • From 1962 to 2004 it was the world's busiest port until surpassed by Shanghai
  • In the Netherlands, Rotterdam has the highest percentage of foreigners from non-industrialised nations. They form a large part of Rotterdam's multi ethnic and multicultural diversity. 46% of the population are of non Dutch origins or have at least one parent born outside the country.
  • There are 80,000 Muslims, constituting 13% of the population.
  • The mayor of Rotterdam, Ahmed Aboutaleb, is of Moroccan descent and is a practicing Muslim
  • Rotterdam is also famous for its Kubuswoningen or cube houses built by architect Piet Blom in 1984.
  • Rotterdam has the tallest residential building in the Netherlands: the Montevideo Tower (160 m (524 ft)).
  • The city also houses the 186 meters (610 ft) tall Euromast (Tower in Rotterdam)
Having a family there is one thing, to receive a great hospitality from them is another thing. My uncle( Ayah James), aunty (Jolanda) and my cousin (Falinda) have always been very welcoming when I'm bringing my friends to their house.Ayah James and Aunty Jolanda always cook the best meals when I'm there..hee...terubat la jugak rindu kat makanan Malaysia and terexposed la jugak to European meals..They have such a lovely and cosy house that comes with a beautiful view of the city of Rotterdam.Teruja je tengok luar tingkap everytime I'm there...So I've planned to bring Hanis to Rotterdam once she's here...We took the train from Krefeld and off we went to Rotterdam!!!

Dah lama dengan model, gaya posing kena ala2 model ye...

Tengok gambar dah rasa cosy kan...

Meet Jintan!!! Nama je melayu tapi terer cakap Dutch..hehe

Once we arrived at my uncle's place, we were served with Bami Goreng Udang..terbaek kot...For Dinner, Aunty Jolanda made us a traditional dutch meal, rabbit with cranberry sauce, mashed potato, pear pickle and coleslaw..I tambah second round okay...sedappp..On the next day, we ate chappati with gulai daging...Chappati ni terbaek ar..nikmat terasa..

For Breakfast, the table was full of various cheese type...Cheese spread, cheese cream, cheese slice, cheese with eggs, cheese this...cheese that...yang penting all of them were really good...I'm a cheese lover, so it was a perfect breakfast for me...

Aldi is the right place if you wanna buy groceries..the things sold there are really cheap...

Albert Heijn - Shopping Complex in Rotterdam

In Holland, it's very convenient to find Halal meat...You can find a section especially for Halal meat..senang hidup..
Meet my uncle and aunty..

Falinda and Hanis

Falinda took a half day off to take Hanis and I around the Rotterdam city...

Shopping kat sini best..banyak baju for teenagers...

She introduced to us Oliebol which are traditionally eaten on New Year's Eve and at funfairs. It's like kuih chakoy but with powdered sugar..
Kan dah sorung2 muka teruja makan ni...

Beurs passage...

Falinda introduced to us Poffertjes...Sedap menjilat jari kot...U have to try it on your own to know how good it is...

The processes taken to make Poffertjes...

Toilet di Mcd sentiasa menjadi pujaan hati kalau tertibe kat tengah2 city xtaw toilet kat mana...

View of Rotterdam city at night...

Falinda gave us a treat at Sushi & Noodles..I'm not a fan of sushi..but they were not that bad though...yum2 jugak..

Sebab mulut busuk makan wasabi, dia bagi peppermint candy...Hanis cakap kat Malaysia xde pown..
Thanx Falinda for taking us around the city and gave a dinner treat..
A big thank you to Ayah James and Aunty Jolanda for the great hospitality...Hanis had so much fun staying at your place..You're a wonderful host...thanx again...I miss your cooking....hehe

The next post would be about the trip to Amsterdam..stay tune..
