Yeah babeyh...It starts at home...By this, i mean homemade cooking...homemade cooking creates happiness right?
Life as a student abroad is challenging in many aspects especially when you're far far away from your family members...from your mum to be exact..Mum's cooking is always the best..
But yeah, once you're living on your own, you'll have to take care of yourself...no more chicken fried rice served on the table when you're hungry, no prepared dessert for tea time, no waking up in the morning on hari raya getting ketupat and homemade rendang for breakfast and etc....tsk2...sedey kan...But yeah, life must go on..
How are we going to survive? Gigih masak sendiri la kan..hee..Kalau dulu kadang2 je masak...masak pon simple2 je cam french toast, nasi goreng, bihun goreng just to name a few..During that time, I can just leave the difficult dishes for my mum to cook...Sadly, I won't be able to do it now.
So I have to take my own initiative to try and experience cooking by myself...It's actually kinda fun and interesting if you're into it...you'll become you own master chef...Where do I get the recipes? Main resource would be my mum..If I miss her cooking, I would ask her for the recipes...and then try on my own..Even though it might not turn out as good as my mom's cooking, at least I can get the slight taste of the food I miss in Malaysia...terubat la gak rindu skit2...
Dah gigih masak tu, I pown gigih la try masak benda lain plak...I love to try new recipes and modifying them to suit my liking...Recipes? Google la...Yeah I know, sometimes it's hard to know which recipes you can trust...Kalau main try je, x pasal2 sedey di kemudian hari kan..What I would do is to read the reviews from other people who've tried the recipes...Just take your time to read the reviews...They are not just comments or critics but also contain advice and tips on how to improve the recipe..So yeah...and not forgetting there are also infos on certain ingredients that can be substituted if you don't have or couldn't find them..Bagus kan...
I'm still an amateur...Baru nak merangkak kot...I've tried few simple recipes...student kan busy..so I normally search under quick and easy recipes..hee..But2 if there's a special occasion or celebration, I would take my time to try something nice...Example like rendang ayam, Lontong, Baked mashed potatoes with cheese and etc....The best part about cooking is when other people give compliments on the food you've made...Sangat puas hati okay...kalau kritik pon xpe..it'll just motivate you to improve the way you cook and try something else next time...
I would normally put pictures of what I cook on my tumblr...baru skit kot...akan gigih lagi in the future...
