Akkurt Panorama Cafe

What happens when you take an old water tower and add a restaurant to it? You would get a Panaroma Cafe!!! Woot Woot!

The history goes like this...
The tower was built in 1917 to supply fresh water to steam locomotives. After being abandoned for decades, finally the tower and the Brownfield sites around it were bought by two brothers, Merlüt und Mustafa Akkurt in 1997. "It was a bit crazy, but we were really enthusiastic about this property," said Mustafa Akkurt. In a period of nine years, they managed to build an unusual office building, a large hall and a panorama cafe with a total cost of about 6.5 million Euro.

This Cafe with 360° terrace introduces a new attraction to the city of Duisburg, giving it a new perspective rather than just functioning as a water tower. The panoramic view from the 11th floor of this tower extends from the Old City of Duisburg to the city centre until the sports park and on a clear day, you can even see the neighbouring city, Düsseldorf. Even the interior of this cafe was painted by an Azerbaijani artist to show a panoramic view of the Turkish Euphrates area.

The info about this Cafe is as following :
Address : Cafe Panorama - Wasserturm, Paul-Esch-Str. 54, 47053 Duisburg
Opening times : Daily from 9am to 8pm except for Tuesday
                         Breakfast time : 9am to 1pm

Last Friday, Mustafa took us (Hakim, Fuad, Peja and I) to this panorama cafe for a breakfast buffet before heading to the mosque for Jumu'ah. It was a wonderful moment having an all-you-can-eat breakfast together while enjoying the spectacular view of Duisburg city. Om nom nom nom...
